In May 2018, the Pegnitz Staedtepartnerschaftsverein hosted a twinning event in Pegnitz bringing together people from Guyancourt, Slany, Linlithgow and Pegnitz. The event took place from Thursday 10th May to Sunday 13th May. Over 60 people travelled from Guyancourt by coach and 9 from Slany. Ian Donaldson represented the Linlithgow Twinning Association.
For Ian, the highlight of the weekend was the Bratwurstgipfel which is basically a sausage competition. Pegnitz had recently been awarded a prize as one of the best towns in Bavaria, their Bratwurstgipfel being one of the reasons. It was estimated that over 20,000 people attended the event. Ian was to be one of the 12 judges and had to taste 14 different sausages and decide on a winner based on appearance, consistency and taste. In Bavaria that is a serious responsibility! The photo below shows the 12 judges waiting to be presented with their plate of 14 different sausages.
