At Easter 2018, 37 people travelled to Guyancourt to take part in the annual exchange.
This year, the majority of people travelled with Transavia from Edinburgh to Orly. This worked well as Orly is much closer to Guyancourt which avoids the “peripherique” on an Easter Friday!
On Saturday, the majority of people visited the picturesque artist’s village Milly La Foret. Before a leisurely lunch in the village there was a visit to an artisan glass manufacturer. In the afternoon there was a guided walk around the village.
As 5 Linlithgow Ramblers took part in this year’s exchange, the Guyancourt Walking Group organised a very interesting walk through historic covered walkways in Paris on Saturday. The walkers had a picnic lunch on the banks of the Seine accompanied by a glass of wine.
On Saturday evening there was a Twinning dinner and an amazing fantasy show inspired by Brexit. The costumes and props were brilliant. Our Guyancourt friends had been practising since the beginning of the year!
On Sunday over 30 people joined a walk through woodlands on the outskirts of Guyancourt. Then on Sunday evening everyone enjoyed a buffet supper with music, singing and dancing.
All in all a brilliant way to spend Easter weekend and experience French life first hand.
